Find the RIGHT Partner
by Dr Jill Ammon-Wexler, Personal Excellence Mentor and Pioneer Brainwave Researcher
Why do most people seek an intimate relationship?
"A need for intimacy, for sexual gratification and satisfaction are all important aspects of who we are. Each of us has our own way in which these needs must be fulfilled to feel happy and secure," says Psychologist Dennis Sugrue of the University of Michigan Medical School.
But understanding what fulfillment means to you is the key to finding a partner that will make you feel satisfied and happy.
Clarify What Fulfills You
So how can you find the kind of person who can meet your emotional needs, and that share your core values? One place to look for clues is in the best relationships you already have with your friends and family.
Think about the relationships you've had, or currently have, that tend to bring out the best in you. The relationships in which you have felt you could grow and that made you feel fulfilled and appreciated. Don’t just focus on romantic relationships. Consider any relationships that has had these values for you.
You should also look for clues in the people who seem to give you a sense of safety and security -- the people with whom you can just naturally "be yourself." This makes for a good, lasting relationship with natural closeness and easy intimacy.
Look for a Pattern
When you do such a mental review, you'll find a pattern of personality traits will begin to emerge. It is no coincidence these same traits will best serve you in choosing an intimate partner.
You are looking not only for character traits but also for ways of relating to you, and you to them. This works because it's the person with whom you feel the most comfortable that possess the kind of traits you need for a lasting intimate partnership.
Remember though, your most important relationship is your relationship with yourself. If this relationship could use a tuneup => Click here!
